Car Seat Safety
Keeping your little one safe in the car shouldn’t feel overwhelming. As a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), I help families in Lindstrom, Forest Lake, White Bear Lake, Hugo, and the Twin Cities feel confident every time they buckle their child in.
A car seat safety check is all about peace of mind. I’ll walk you through your installation step by step, check the harness fit, and make sure your seat is both safe and up to date. If you’re expecting, you can even practice with a newborn doll so you feel ready for that very first ride home.
What We’ll Do Together:
Making sure your child’s car seat is installed correctly and showing you how to do it in a way that’s both safe and easy.
Double-check that your car seat is installed correctly, and teach you how to do it on your own.
Make sure your child is buckled and harnessed properly (or help you practice before baby arrives).
Look up recalls for both your car seat and your vehicle.
Check that your car seat hasn’t expired.
Answer your questions so you leave feeling confident instead of confused.
Each safety check takes about 30 minutes per child passenger (add 15 minutes for each extra seat). Please bring your vehicle owner’s manual and car seat manual so we can go through everything together.
This service is always included at no extra cost for my birth doula clients and childbirth education students.
Why It Matters
Car seats save lives, but the truth is that ~70% of car seats are misused, they are either installed incorrectly, the child isn’t harnessed properly, there are unapproved aftermarket items added to the car seat, or a combination of the three. My goal is to take away the stress and give you the tools to know your child is riding as safely as possible, whether it’s a quick trip to the store or the very first drive home from the hospital.
